The kids in our groups were very angry. They felt abandoned by their teachers and by the government. They questioned how teachers could claim a moral high ground when what they were doing to children was so obviously harmful. Many children also missed out on their daily meals because feeding schemes were not operating.
The strike affected our work directly. We could not pick up the children for groups from their schools and it was impossible to make alternative arrangements as they were all roaming around the township. Our service in Riverlea which is based at a school came to a complete standstill.
